Taum Sauk Weekend

Jeff planned our first family camping trip this past weekend. We went camping last year to Alley Springs, but we were in tow w/ about 10 other families. This was just the three of us in the beautiful Taum Sauk Mountains, about 2 hours from St. Louis.

He managed to find the most quaint spot. This was the view from our fire pit. The weather was gorgeous and Sat. night we could sit by the fire and see a sky full of stars through amazing trees.
We spent Saturday afternoon at Elephant Rocks. Baby Girl LOVED the pink rocks. Jeff took us all the way to the top and he and Baby Girl sat on top...I was trying not to panic.
We also squeezed through some very tiny cracks. I told Jeff he was lucky I wasn't a few weeks further or he would've had to grease me up like a pig to get me through! :) If you look behind Baby Girl you can see my "bump".
Right outside camp they had a look out tower overlooking the "mountains". I managed to get up one flight of stairs and went weak in the knees. Jeff and Baby Girl ventured to the top and she loved it. This is a picture of her at the very top.
Sunday we took a short walk to the tallest point in Missouri. I think this was the most exciting part for Jeff. If you know him well, you know that he thinks Missouri is about as GREAT as it gets! It was a beautiful area. That's a little green bug he found!
Baby Girl couldn't have been more happy than spending time at the camp ground and in her tent. We were lucky enough to borrow a GINORMOUS tent from the Tudors. She had full reign of a huge space.
She was quite our poser all weekend...as you can see above and below!

Elephant Rocks had a quaint little playground at the entrance. We had lunch, climbed around and spend a bit of time there before heading back to camp.

I'm so glad we were able to do this. When we pulled onto the exit of our house, Baby Girl started crying saying "I wants go back to camping and in my tent!" All I was thinking was "I want to take a shower! :)"
